Fundamentally different!
The WaiterGait's solid outer shell is
impervious to water, unlike the standard
soft skin cover on the right, which will
tear, leak and smell bad if gotten wet.
SUSPENSION METHODS
that CAN be used for the
WaterGait™ WaterLeg
1. Shuttle Lock. We
recommend the Coyote™ brand of shuttle lock, which is made entirely of
durable plastic and a stainless steel spring mechanism. Other
shuttle locks are NOT designed to hold up to repeated water exposure.
Generally, an outer sleeve is also worn to reduce water entering the
socket (can be ordered on request).
2. Suction. (passive)
This refers to a basic suction valve. There are many valves on the
market and we will work with you to find the most reliable and cost
effective model. An Active Suction System, with a mechanical or battery
powered pump, is NOT practical for application to the WaterGait™ WaterLeg.
So, if you currently wear an active suction system, we will speak with
you and determine whether a passive suction system or shuttle lock would
be more practical.
3. Supra-condylar suspension.
A wedge can be glued to the socket or a pelite liner. It is suggested
that some sort of sleeve be worn as a secondary suspension to minimize
water getting between the liner and the socket and/or skin.
